Luxury vinyl plank flooring from About Floors n More in Jacksonville, FL

What are the latest trends for LVP?

LVP, luxury vinyl plank, is a wood-look mimic that follows industry trends.  Therefore, since gray, whitewashed, and light woods are all the popular, they are included in the LVF line.  Textures, such as hand-scraped, wire-brushed, weathered (Oh, that barn door look!) and distressed are available, as are matte, gloss, and high gloss finishes.

You can get anything in luxury vinyl, from light, contemporary, and airy blond floors, to more traditional dark flooring and from gray or greige farmhouse style to California beach and more. LVP is cut in various plank sizes.

It’s not just wood

Luxury vinyl is also an incredible mimic of stone and tile. Images are taken with 3D photography, so they’re clear and accurate, showing knots, grains, swirls, wormholes, and veining variations. Patterns are vibrant and in line with the trend toward herringbone, chevron, and diagonals. The floors are embossed to add depth, dimension, and textured features, and come in matte (another 2020 trend), gloss, and high gloss finishes.

LVP is made by cutting the vinyl into strips and mounting them on boards to mimic hardwood planks.  It also comes in square, groutable tile-sized pieces called LVT. Many feel the extra seams add more realism and some take it further by using grout in LVP seams. Although most often associated with hardwood, LVP is used by many to mimic stone, as it has a more continuous look like that of quarried marble, granite, travertine, slate, or limestone.

Not a fad

Although it’s one of the most popular floorings today, LVP and LVT are not fads, but trends.  A trend takes an already existing product and updates it to be in line with current times. Extensive research is required.  A fad is off-the-cuff and is often short-lived like the pet rock craze of the 1970s; it’s an idea, not anything that took research.
